Ranchi: Jharkhand is planning an AYUSH medical college and hospital estimated to cost around ₹900 crore, as part of efforts to expand Ayurvedic and traditional healthcare facilities in the state. Health Minister Dr Irfan Ansari announced details of the proposal at the Jharkhand Pradesh Ayurveda Conference held in Ranchi on September 20.

According to reports, preparations are underway to develop the proposed institution with modern healthcare infrastructure. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) has reportedly been prepared and sent to the Union AYUSH Ministry for further consideration. Reports also say that land for the project has been identified.

The state government has highlighted Jharkhand’s forests, medicinal plants and other natural resources as potential assets for expanding Ayurveda and AYUSH-based healthcare. The proposed institution is expected to focus not only on treatment but also on medical education, research and modern laboratory facilities.

Ansari has said the government wants to develop Jharkhand into a major centre for Ayurveda and make advanced treatment more accessible within the state. However, current reports indicate that the project remains at the proposal and DPR stage, and a final approval and construction timeline have not yet been clearly announced.
