Jamui, September 22: Bihar Police have taken major action in the Jamui minor girl harassment case, with alleged main accused Nandan Yadav arrested after a police encounter on Tuesday. According to police reports, Yadav sustained a gunshot injury to his leg during the encounter and was taken to Jamui Sadar Hospital for treatment.
The case relates to an incident reported on September 19, when a Class 10 girl and her male friend were allegedly stopped and harassed by a group of youths while returning from a local hill area. A video showing the alleged incident later surfaced on social media, prompting widespread attention and police action.
Police identified around seven people allegedly involved in the incident with the help of the video footage. An FIR was registered under the POCSO Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, while a Special Investigation Team was formed to investigate the case and locate the accused.
Yadav’s arrest marks a significant development in the investigation. Reports available so far indicate that other accused are also being pursued as police continue their probe into the incident.
